Exploring the letter Bb, the Moon, the colour Yellow, and the shapes Circle and Crescent.
For this week’s @home curriculum we are taking an imaginary trip to the ocean! We know this is one of the things we have not been able to enjoy in person recently, as public spaces such as these have been out of bounds.
Therefore, we’d like to invite all our families to accompany their children on a magical ocean adventure through music, dance, art, sensory play and so much more…as we explore, create, imagine, learn and grow together.

One of the many true gifts of childhood is the ability to transport oneself anywhere in world through one’s imagination.
So please join your children, as we all explore the beauties of the deep blue sea together.
Learning points: introducing the concepts for the week and the letter Dd. Instilling a love of books and reading; the foundation of language and literacy development.

See ART activity for oval and triangle exercise.
This week we are continuing to explore the colour blue……and all it’s different shades. For this week we have created a Montessori inspired activity for grading shades of blue dolphins from dark to light.

Benefits: Activities like this help children begin to discern subtle differences important for visual discrimination and colour perception.

Two weeks ago we shared with you the Feeling Buddies “How Do You Feel Chart”

This week we are sharing a short Feeling Buddies lesson with Teaching Inger for your little ones at home:
We have also included some footage from an actual Feeling Buddies lesson with your little ones earlier this year:
Based on current brain research, child development information, and developmentally appropriate practices, the Feeling Buddies Self-Regulation Curriculum created by Dr. Becky A. Bailey and Lety Valero form an integral part of the Watering Whole.
According to Howard Gardner, human beings have not just one form of intelligence, but actually multiple intelligences. These intelligences form part of who we are and need to be developed and strengthened in order for us to grow and thrive as individuals.
One of the key intelligences we should be focusing on in early childhood development is Emotional Intelligence. Emotional Intelligence is the “ability to recognise, understand and manage our own feelings as well as the feelings of others. It is the ability to show understanding and empathy, and it involves the ability to see things from other points of view” (Henig).
