“We loved the little school around the corner from our house where we felt like family. The children loved all the in-house extras like yoga, soccer, music, brain dance, life skills, cooking, etc. And they were learning Xhosa, one of the official languages of South Africa. A special experience for the whole family.”

“My Daughter loved her time at the Watering Whole! The weekly activities and extramurials were so varied and a wonderful mix nurturing the physical, emotional, social, imagination, common sense and many other parts of growing and developing. The teachers clearly love what they do and are so caring and attentive, especially for the teeny tiny tots. Knowing this made it much easier for me as a Mum to “let go” as such as my little one ventured out to pre school for the first time!”

“Just wanted to send a heartfelt thank you to all of you for all that you have done for our daughter for the past 2 years. I cannot give enough praise to your school for a creation of a holistic and inclusive little community of people that share common ideologies of shared spaces and valuing our differences instead of separating us due to it. We will miss you all very much!”

“This space is a little paradise for young learners in their formative years…the highly intuitive and connected owners and teachers Linda and Inger are two of those most special teachers I have come to know…their passion and commitment to every little learner who walks through their doors is truly admirable…not for a moment is any child left unsupervised and isolated…not for a moment are they left out of their watchful eyes…the teachers become children and communicate with the little ones even more successfully than us parents…with the kindest and warmest voices which the kids so amazingly respond to.. life lessons learnt at Watering Whole by my kids has been invaluable and precious…From feeding the fishes and bunnies to growing their own veges in the garden…every aspect of this dream preschool has been created with love and awareness of the child…We are counting every day this week as we reach the last precious memories at the Watering Whole…for years I have been watching other transferring parents bawl their eyes while saying goodbye to the teachers…I know am not going to be spared in this unintentional ritual…Thank you Watering Whole!”

“The Watering Whole offers the perfect transition for a child going to school for the first time. Our son started at the school at age two and adapted very quickly. Unlike a lot of pre-schools we looked at, we were allowed to come in and sit with him for the first 15 minutes of each day for the first couple of weeks. This really helped him to adjust to the school and it helped us feel at ease for the rest of the day knowing that he was happy. The school felt like a home from home, not just for him but for all of us, and we always felt very included and up to date with what was happening in the school on a daily basis. Our child has some health issues relating to his lungs and this was always given the attention it required from the staff. They made sure he was never knowingly exposed to germs brought in by other children. Finally, I feel that the values of the Watering Whole exactly aligned to how we want to bring up our children; with respect for themselves, each other and the environment. I couldn’t recommend them enough.”

“Both of my children loved their time at the Watering Whole. We all loved the warm and nurturing and inclusive environment, the very caring teachers, and the individual attention given to each child there. They were well prepared to move on to Grade R and the mixed classroom between the various age-groups was wonderful for learning to care about and be patient with others, particularly the younger ones. I cannot recommend Watering Whole highly enough!”

“We’re so happy that our daughter has a place away from home where her individuality is celebrated. Since she’s started at WWHP she is just thriving!”

– Kauthar Semaar (Parent)

“Linda has wonderful energy and enthusiasm that captures the attention of toddlers…She has endless patience and empathy and created warm relationships with the children they could trust…Her heart is truly in her work, and that for me as a mother is fundamental. I knew that she gave her best and a little more to each child every day, and that’s the kind of person I want to trust my daughter to.”

– Amanda Simpson (Parent and Occupational Therapist)

“The child to teacher ratio is low with high focus on individual attention. All teachers are enthusiastic, structured and creative and our three children were always excited to go there.  The kids get fully prepared for grade R, but most importantly the school instils an early zest for learning and loving school!”

Tanja Roug Wijnen (Parent)

“Linda’s sincere passion for working with this age group (2-4 years) was evident in the warm and patient way she related to the children, helping each child to feel unique and special.”

Sheila Sacks (Owner and Head Teacher of Playmates Playschool 2011)

“Because I believe in both her ability and integrity as a person I wholly support her endeavours. I am convinced that she has a lot to offer children and education in general.”

– Wendy Condie (Former Headmistress of Wynberg Girls’ Junior School)

“One of the things that especially makes Linda stand out from her peers is her attitude towards child development in a holistic fashion… Her future is bright, but perhaps even more important, so is the future of those hundreds of youngsters who will pass through her classroom every year.”

– Dr Joanne Hardman (Teaching Practice Supervisor 2008, School of Education at the University of Cape Town)
